Why join the chamber?

Joining the Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce is a smart move for your business. Because our members promote each other and work together, your business will grow and prosper quickly. Here are the top 10 reasons why you should join us!

Gain a voice in government

We take on tough issues and work to improve the local business climate for our members. Chamber staff hold ex-officio seats on local boards, including the Economic Development Commission and the Downtown Manchester Special Services District. United through the Chamber, members collectively present a strong lobbying body.

Increase your visibility in the community

As a new member of the Chamber, you will be listed in our directory (print and online), in our e-newsletter, on Facebook/Instagram, and have the opportunity to be highlighted in other chamber publications. You also can grow your business by advertising with the Chamber and sponsoring events! We are always looking for sponsors for our big seasonal events, and are currently accepting advertisements for our next directory publication in April of 2022.

Membership brings credibility to your business

You will increase positive perception among local consumers and business owners when you’ve identified as a member of the Chamber. We have a 120-year history of supporting, connecting, and promoting local businesses! Our positive reputation and brand are recognized throughout the greater Manchester community.

Promotion and publicity

We work tirelessly to create publicity for our members. The Chamber offers a number of advertising and sponsorship opportunities across all price levels- there are options for every business, no matter how large or small.

Get involved with a committee or board

We have numerous committees and serving on one of them provides numerous networking opportunities as well as professional leadership development. As a member, you are also eligible to serve on the executive board. Make your voice heard and become a local  business leader!

Chamber events and programs

GMCC events and programs provide members with great opportunities to get to know new people and expand their prospect base. We offer monthly open networking events (Coffee Connections and First Thursdays) as well as three different Business Referral Groups. In addition to these regular events, we host larger seasonal events (Winter Fundraiser, Golf Tournament, etc.) that provide sponsorship and advertising opportunities.

Make business contacts

Our fundamental mission is to generate more business activity for the community. The Chamber initiates more business-to-business commerce and more opportunities for networking and connecting local professionals than is available through most other local organizations. We are the oldest and most active chamber in Connecticut, and have close to 500 members spread across 30 towns.

Access to members-only discounts and services

Certain Chamber members offer discounts on products and services when dealing with fellow members. If you are interested in offering discounts to members, let us know! We are glad to promote and encourage these savings.

Acquire customer referrals

Every day, we receive calls and emails from individuals and businesses looking for potential vendors! Chamber members always recommend fellow Chamber members when they come across people looking for referrals.

Receive our weekly e-newsletter

Our weekly e-newsletter, the Lowdown, provides new member information, member news, articles about the community, and details about upcoming Chamber events, among other things. Members can request to have information included in the newsletter at no additional cost. This is a great way to get the word out about events or promotions you're haivng!

If you still don’t think you have time to join and participate in the Chamber, consider the following:

  • Most consumers think that being active in the local chamber of commerce is an effective business strategy overall. It’s for communicating to consumers that a company uses good business practices and communicating that a business is reputable.
  • If a company shows that it’s highly involved in its local chamber (e.g., sits on the chamber boards or committees), consumers are more likely to think that its products stack up better against its competition.
  • When a consumer thinks that a company’s products stack up better against the competition because the company is highly involved in its local chamber of commerce, it is because he or she infers that the company is trustworthy, involved in the community and is an industry leader.
